City Wide Celebrates 50 years!

The end of 2011 marks half a century of growth and success for City Wide Maintenance. Starting in Lenexa, Kan., in 1961, founder Frank Oddo decided to open his own janitorial company when he couldn’t find a reliable company to clean his father’s grocery store.

In the beginning, Frank worked 6 days a week for 12 hours a day to build his company from the ground up. He was the acting sales team, operations team and relied on his wife, Beth, for administrative and financial support.

In 1996, Frank’s second son, Jeff, took over as the active President. A visionary, like his father, Jeff believed City Wide could operate at a much more professional level than traditional janitorial companies. Jeff is credited with redirecting the business model to function as it does today. City Wide handles the management, quality control and focuses on representing the needs of the client while working with independent, established janitorial and maintenance companies to perform the maintenance services.

Jeff also created an opportunity in 2001 for other like-minded entrepreneur’s to build their own business and establish a company operating with the City Wide business model. Today, City Wide has more than 35 locations across the country and continues to grow.

City Wide Opens Dallas/Ft. Worth Market

City Wide Maintenance, the country’s leading franchise opportunity designed for sales and management professionals, announces it has awarded its last large territory in the state of Texas in Dallas/Ft. Worth.

Now located in 32 markets with the single corporate location, City Wide is proud to congratulate current City Wide franchisees Scott Brown and John Suranyi along with new partner Barry Stephenson as the new franchisees for City Wide of DFW. Their exclusive territory encompasses all of the Dallas and Fort Worth metropolitan areas.

Brown and Suranyi are both formerly from the telecommunications and broadcast media industries in addition to running three other City Wide locations; Seattle Wash., Austin and San Antonio Texas.   Brown also separately owns City Wide Maintenance of Colorado. Stephenson has a strong history in sales and sales management and will hold the position of president for the new Texas location.

City Wide Opens its Doors in South Jersey

The nationally recognized commercial maintenance management firm City Wide Maintenance has opened its first location in the South Jersey area. City Wide will be represented in New Jersey by CEO Joseph MacMichael and COO David R. Ollivier, two highly qualified franchisees, each with their own impressive resumes.

Before joining the City Wide Franchise family, MacMichael served as President and CCO of the Haddon Financial Group and – under his tenure – Haddon became one of the nation’s leading independent wealth management firms with five offices in New Jersey and two in Pennsylvania. During this time, MacMichael has also been a managing partner of his own MacMichael Properties, a local New Jersey property management company.

Ollivier has also had an ambitious career leading up to his joining with MacMichael and City Wide. Ollivier started Bulldog Landscaping & Irrigation LLC and successfully ran the business for more than twenty years before closing it in 2010 to pursue a career with City Wide.

In that time, Ollivier solidified Bulldog Landscaping’s reputation as the ‘one-stop-shop’ for clients with large project needs, specializing in computer imaging and auto cad work.

City Wide Opens First Maryland Location

There is a new player in town for the Central Maryland building maintenance industry. The fast-growing City Wide Maintenance franchise will be opening shop with a new office in the Baltimore area spearheaded by franchisee Tom Grem. After analyzing countless franchise opportunities, Grem decided on City Wide because the overall business model fit him best. “I chose City Wide because the model has worked 29 times previously, and I liked the idea that we could be sitting on the same side of the table helping people, rather than going out and just peddling something. City Wide, the country’s leading franchise opportunity designed for sales and management professionals, has awarded its first franchise in the state of Pennsylvania.

City Wide is proud to congratulate Bill Dougherty as the new franchisee for City Wide of Pittsburgh. This exclusive territory encompasses the entire Pittsburgh metropolitan area. With the addition of Pittsburgh, City Wide is now located in nearly 30 markets across the United States.

Dougherty comes from retail sales where he worked in outside sales, sales management and training positions with companies such as Coca-Cola and Quaker Oats.
